Welcome to “From Jane’s Heart.”

Over the last few years I have felt the strong desire to put into writing those things I often hold in a secret place in my heart. I have hesitated for fear of a lack of interest or feeling embarrassed or, maybe worse, being successful! Oh no. Not that!!!

I am overcoming those fears and moving ahead with what is on my heart. I hope you enjoy these writings. More importantly, I hope that you may find some personal insight relevant to your own life.

So here I go! To God be the glory!

I can relate to what you are saying about how you might feel about going more public with your most inner thoughts. When I was in high school, I had one English teacher who made us write a lot and then we needed to read our essays to the class. Well, although I did well, it took me forever to write a simple essay because I was always self-censoring, e.g., “the class will think this is silly,” “the class will laugh at me for writing my thoughts,” and so on. However, I finally gave up doing that and figured that I was going to write from my heart, as well as from my head, What happened was that I still did well and reading in front of the class was fine, because I decided that I was the one who knew what I was writing about, and if someone laughed, maybe they just didn’t understand – and I needed to educate them. This gave me much more confidence and I went on to win essay contests and in college, did really well with my writing and one professor said that a paper that I had written about “Paradise Lost” was, quote, “one of the best pieces of writing that he had ever received from an undergraduate” and even called it “splendid.” I went on and took a big plunge and became the feature editor of the college newspaper, needing to write an article a week, which involved, research, interviewing people including administrators and many others. My name was attached as a byline to every article, so I had to be confident and not self-censor anymore. If I hadn’t taken that leap in high school, I would never have written for the paper and wouldn’t have written well for the professors. To top high school writing off, I won first prize in the senior year required essay contest! I love to write and love to teach writing, also. Perhaps I should go back and start a blog? Let me know how you feel about things after you get going. Best of luck, although if you are writing from the heart and the head, you won’t need it!

Joan, what wonderful words of encouragement! I don’t know how technically accurate my writing is/will be. I just know I have to write. Feel free to add any constructive criticism you feel is warranted. Thank you. Be well, my Friend

Thank you, Jane. If you are writing from the heart, don’t worry about being technically accurate. No constructive criticism at all! I’m looking forward to reading your blog. Take care and don’t self-censor!

    Wonderful,
    One word of advice:
Avoid check the stats just write and move on. You may be writing what someone needs today and you may be writing what someone needs 5 years from now, so if you let the stats discourage you, they’ll never hear it.
God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power love and a sound mind.

You are more than a conqueror

And you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

    Be encouraged Sis.
